The following are the PowerPoint slides I used in a series of webinars I presented in January and February of 2013. While dated now, I am leaving them up as they may have some value still. You may prefer to watch the Mission Prep Class Videos I made in 2020, where I taught the Church’s Mission Prep class to my teenagers and recorded it for others to watch.
As for the webinar presentations, these teach the practical steps for mission prep (spiritual and temporal), as well as how to motivate young people have a desire to serve. Click on the links below to download a copy of the presentations.
The series consists of the following webinars:
- Gaining a Desire to Serve a Mission: In this webinar, we will discuss getting Young Men motivated to serve, the worth of souls in the sight of God, why the Church needs many more missionaries, and the blessings of missionary service. This webinar was held on Sunday, January 20, 2013, and it was a big success.
- Preparing to Serve a Mission: This webinar will discuss requirements to serve a mission, worthiness, the mission cost, and other items around temporal and spiritual preparation.
- Receiving the Call to Serve a Mission: In this webinar we will discuss the mission call process, paperwork, the revelatory process for missionaries to be called by God, and being willing to go wherever the Lord sends you.
- Gearing Up to Serve a Mission: In this webinar we will discuss missionary clothing and other supplies you’ll need, reading lists, the MTC, teaching by the Spirit, and your purpose as a missionary.
I later consolidated these four presentations into one which I called the Prospective Missionary Devotional. It was designed for wards and stakes to present to high school seniors and others planning to submit their mission papers within the next year. In it, there are 50 slides and if you go quickly through the deck, you can get through it in about an hour. But if you take your time and go slowly, it can take up to two hours to present.
While I hope as many people as possible view the mission prep webinars or devotional, it should not be viewed as a replacement for the mission prep class of the Church. I highly recommend that all future missionaries, if you are able, to take the full mission prep class from your ward, stake, or a local LDS Institute.
